Phew

I have just about managed to catch up on some card orders,I can't show them all  as some have n't been given out yet and I don't want to spoil any surprises
I still have a few tricky ones to do but I don't feel quite so pressured  now so the creative juices are flowing a bit more freely ,Here are a few  of this week's creations -

This one was a bit tricky , I had to watch a few episodes just to get which characters were which !I ended up drawing them and cutting them out freehand -two year olds can be very judgemental so I hope they are ok !
This is cut from my brand new favourite cricut cartridge -Paper Lace -the Names were cut using SCAL

I used SCAL for the bee ,and "Freshly picked" for the plant in pot  for this one -I just love that little bee !

Oooh and I nearly forgot about this one ,for my friend's daughter who is an obsessed Harrry Potter fan , I forgot to take a picture of this one before it went and thankfully she tagged me in it on her facebook page !

I had n't made one of these for ages and had forgotten just how tough they are on the poor fingers to cut out -I did do one on the cricut with SCAL and the extra long mats but it was just too flimsy so i reverted to my own way -No pain no gain I suppose !

Lastly another new baby one -I love doing these ,Once again this is all cricut -(except for the punched lace ) I really love using this machine -it is so much fun .I hope you enjoyed looking at my  creations for this week -now i'm off for a quick game of scrabble or six :)

Happy birthday polkadoodles

Polkadoodles is celebrating its first birthday this week and Nikky has designed some great backing papers  to give you for free !,
We want to see what you can do with them for this weeks challenge ,but we also want to see dimension and texture on your projects too .
I used the papers to make this card for my  dad and  I used the embellishment sheet to make the rosette.
I cut the letters and shadows with my cricut using SCAL2.
The card itself is like a leather effect and i added some faux stitching and brads for texture .

Shape card challenge for polkadoodles

Polkadoodles are launching a fantastic new cd this week called Paper boutique . it has some fantastic shaped card templates and a scrumptious collection of papers . I have nt used the shape templates this time but i have used papers and decorative elements from the funky flowers collection . I made a few of the template cards as samples for the tv launch and i forgot to take pictures before i sent them off ! DURRR !
I cut the letter shapes with my cricut using SCAL2 and then cut out the card shape around them.
I had nt made one of these fold out name ones for ages , and seeing as its only 3 letters long it did nt take too long :)

ITS BEEN A WHILE ...

Since i made any of these fold out cards and this week i had to make two ! the first was a bit tricky , for a man ! the second one was much easier it was for a nine year old girl .
My mojo had been missing all week and i really needed it for these !
Thankfully it came back this afternoon after i threatened myself with having to do housework if it did nt !
These cards are very difficult to photograph due to their size and they dont fit in the scanner either - so i am sorry for the dodgy camera work.Thank goodness i dont live in a bungalow - i need the stairs to take this pictures on !

a couple more fold out cards pre cricut expression

these two were made when i only had the baby bug. the letters had to be cut by hand as they were too big for the bug . thank heavens for the expression !

Harvey

I have been working on this one all day and i've had an eye infection for 2 days so every thing is a bit blurry to me !

this is for a new baby boy , but they wanted it quite masculine and not too cute -so i had to use that bear again ! the train set was also on the christmas solutions cart

fold out cards directions update !

i have done a little diagram which shows what i mean by concertina . basically the card should stand in a zig-zag so it needs to fold in one direction then the other. i have drawn each seperate card panel in a different colour. Just glue together where the panels touch .

ADAM'S 30 TH

Here's my latest fold out -for my friends husband . this one used basecamp letters and various embellishments all from celebrations . fold out insructions can be found under FOLD OUT CARDS to the right hand side of this post.

instuctions for fold out name cards

ok, nobody seems to be able to find them on here- archived too well i think ! so i'll do them again
firstly take A4 sheets of card( 12x8 inches)and fold in half to make A5 card blanks-(6x8 inches ) stick these together concertina style until you have enough panels to spell out the name you require. The front panel will open the the opposite way to a regular card ie the fold will be on the right.
using DS place the letter you want (cut the shadows first ) on your mat and stretch to fit easily in an area 6x8 .make sure you have enough space to cut round and dont allow any overlaps then do the same for all the letter shapes. If you dont have design studio you could cut them on real size 5.5 just check they are not too wide for your panels .
i have also used microsoft word in the past to print the letter shapes and then cut out free hand , meaning that i can cut any type font in my computer - SCAL users could do this easily with the cricut too.
Mat each letter onto its shadow ,then glue one letter to each card panel, taking care with the spelling.
Now comes the hard work , because you have to cut this bit by hand , the card stock is now double thickness so it can be quite tough on your blades -oh and on your wrists .

Leaving a border about 1.5 inches at the top and bottom of the whole card to keep your letters together ,lightly mark with a pencil, the areas that you wish to cut away. It is very easy to cut too far so be careful !
Your card shape is now ready to decorate

new baby Jaiden

Another of my popular fold out name cards this time for a new baby boy . colour scheme had to be beige and brown , so i immediately thought of these adorable bears from GO-KREATE.
I also used various cuttlebug embossing folders and coredinations black magic card
